아랍에미리트연방 국경일 축하연회 기록적 다수의 VIP 축하객 참석
2009년 12월 2일 서울 롯데호텔에서 있은 아랍에미리트연방 국경일 축하연회에는 기록적인 다수의 VIP 축하객이 참석해 대 성황을 이루었다.
주한 아랍에미리트연방 ‘압둘라 엠 알마아이나’(H.E. Abdula M. Almaaina) 부부가 주최한 이번 행사에는 윤증현 기획재정부장관을 비롯하여 다수의 국회의원, 정부 고위관리, 주한 각국 대사 및 선임외교관, 재개지도자, 문화계 인사와 기타 각계각층의 지도급 인사들이 참석하였다. 하객 중에는 안승규 한국전력기술 사장, 향덕 박승억 한국대중불교 대종사, 민근식 한국공력도철사장 창시자, 궁중자수-전통한복 디자이너 정명자 원장, 그리고 각국의 대통령 및 ‘루치아노 파바로티’ 등 세계 저명인사들이 주 고객인, 이덕노 힐튼무역 회장도 눈에 띠었다. 주한외교가와 외국인 사회에서도 많은 유명인들이 참석을 하였는데 이 중에는 ‘라자 바크흐타아리’ 주한 이란 대사, ‘무라드 알리’ 주한 파키스탄 대사, ‘무스타파 카마리’ 주한 튀니지 대사, ‘모함메드 크라이비' 주한 모로코 대사‘, 모함마드 카림 라히미’ 주한 아프가니스탄 대사, ‘이삼 모스타파’ 주한 레바논 대사, ‘모하메드 살라 엘딘 압바스’ 주한 수단 대사, ‘슬로보단 마린코빅’ 주한 세르비아 대사, ‘두산 벨라’ 주한슬로바키아 대사,‘살레 알파이즈’ 주한 사우디아라비아 대리대사, ‘마수드 알갈리’ 주한 리비아 공관장 등이 참석하였다.
호텔의 넓은 크리스탈 홀이 이 연회를 찾은 손님들로 그야말로 꽉 찼다.
행사장 연단 뒤 벽면의 3분의 1을 차지하는 거대한 현수막은 아랍에미리트연방의 경제 성장과 눈부신 건축기술을 묘사한 다채로운 그림으로 채워져 있었다. 또한 야자수 모양의 인공섬과 초현대식 마천루 사진도 눈길을 끌었다.

UAE National Day reception draws record attendance by VIPs
The 38th National Day reception of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) hosted by Ambassador and Mrs. Abdula M. Almaaina of the UAE at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul on Dec. 2, 2009 was attended by a record number of VIPs from all walks of life as well as from the diplomatic and foreign community in Korea. The spacious Crystal Ballroom of the Hotel was literally filled to the brim by the distinguished guests.
Among the guests from the Korean side were Minister of Strategy and Finance Yoon Jeung-Hyun and chief executive officers of Korea’s leading business groups and companies, including President & CEO Ahn Seung-Kyoo of Korea Power Engineering Company Inc. There also were leading civic figures such as noted artists and cultural figures and among them were Chairman Chang Hyun-Soo of the Federation of Hanbok Organizations, who has under him a total of 13 traditional Korean costume associations. There also were Chief Abbot Park Seung-Eok of the Korean Mahayanist Jogye Order, Chairman Min Keun-Shik of the Wild Ginseng Growers Association, Chairman Hilton Lee of Hilton Corporation and President Ms. Chung Myung-Ja of Yijo Gobang Royal Court Embroidery Boutique. 
From the media came many representatives who included Chairman Lee Kyung-sik of The Korea Post.Attendance from the Seoul Diplomatic Corps was unusually large and included many ambassadors and their spouses, especially the ambassadors and madams from the Islamic countries. Among them were Ambassadors Mohammad Raza Bakhtiari of Iran, Murad Ali of Pakistan, Mustapha Khammari of Tunisia, Mohammad Karim Rahimi of Afghanistan, Issam Mostapha of Lebanon, Mohamed Salah Eldin Abbas of Sudan, Slobodan Marincovic of Serbia, Dusan Bella of Slovak Republic; CDA Saleh Kh. S. Alfaiz of Saudi Arabia; and Mission Head Masaoud Alghali of Libya. There was a large picture painted on a cloth hung on the wall covering almost one third of the wall behind the stage with a variety of pictures depicting the economic growth and splendid architecture, which included the man-made island in the shape of a palm tree and ultra-modern high-rise buildings towering into the sky.The celebration started with the presentation of the national anthems of the Republic of Korea and the United Arab Emirates, which was followed by a speech by Ambassador Almaaina of the UAE and a congratulatory address by Minister Yoon.
In his speech to the guests, Amb. Almaaina said that the United Arab Emirates today is not only a big figure in economic development but that many people look at the United Arab Emirates as the place of tolerance, brotherhood and peace because people from around 140 countries around the world are living and working in the UAE rates in peace and security .Minister Yoon started his congratulatory address with Assalaam alaykum (Greeings!) and was given a hearty from the guests and once more at the end of speech with Shukran Jwajillan (Thank you very much).
In the speech Yoon said that building upon the friendship that our ancestors established more than one thousand years ago, crossing the Silk Road, now we are forging a new form of partnership. Here are further details of the speeches by Ambassador Almaaina and Minister Yoon:

It is a great pleasure for me to welcome the representative of the Korean government, His Excellency Yoon Jeung-hyun the Minister of Strategy and Finance, and his spouse, and I welcome Their Excellencies members of the Korean parliament, and deputy ministers, and Their Excellencies ambassadors and all the officials, businessmen, Korean friends and friends from other countries .
Today the people of the United Arab Emirates celebrate the 38th anniversary of establishing their country under their wise eadership who guided hem to a great achievements in a short period of time .The United Arab Emirates achieved within a few years a big revival of civilization and economic development in many sectors.The United Arab Emirates today is not only a big figure in economic development, but many people look at the United Arab Emirates as the place of tolerance, brotherhood and peace. As people from around 140 countries around the world living and working in the United Arab Emirates in peace and security.The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Korea established their diplomatic relations in 1980. And they keep developing this relations and increase cooperation in many fields till became an excellent model for any relationship between any two countries. The leaders of the two countries had set a strong foundation for the such a good relations, and they supported this relations by mutual visits and ongoing consultations.
I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to the Government and the friendly people of the Republic of Korea for their continued support, which is facilitate our job in developing the good friendship relations between our two peoples and help us to increase cooperation between our two countries .

Assalaam alaykum
Honorable Ambassador Abdulla M. Almaainah, foreign delegates to Korea, and distinguished guests,
First of all, I would like to thank you for your warm welcome. Representing all Korean people, I would like to express heartful friendship to all participants here. It is my honor to join you tonight celebrating the National Day of the United Arab Emirates.
Next year holds a historic meaning in that Korea and the UAE mark the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic ties. For nearly three decades since 1980, both countries have substantially strengthened economic cooperation. Now the UAE has emerged as a major crude oil supplier and one of the biggest construction and plant markets for Korea. More recently, Korea and the UAE are increasingly becoming an indispensable partner to each other with the bilateral relations expanding from economy to culture to air transportation.The Middle East is the birthplace of the Islamic culture, which has developed into a civilization combining Eastern and Western cultures. Indeed, the Islamic achievements in science, medicine and mathematics spread to Europe, contributing to the world civilization. The UAE has played a critical role in turning the Islamic culture into the mainstream of the world history, overcoming and utilizing its natural environment. I am confident that the UAE would continue to seek a new path to prosperity as a center of the Middle East. Until recently, the UAE has grown as a global hub in tourism, finance and transportation, drawing attentions from around the globe.
Such a transformation has shown how important political leadership, business-friendly environment and quality infrastructure are for a country to make an economic take-off. Recently, although Dubai is facing some financial difficulties, I firmly believe that the UAE, the country made a dream of an economic miracle into a reality, will re-emerge and stand taller as an envy of the world. Noting the political and economic status of the UAE in the international community, I would like to touch upon the following plans that the Korean government is formulating for a closer relationship with the UAE. First, Korea will make utmost efforts to conclude Korea-GCC Free Trade Agreement (FTA) as early as possible as a means to strengthen economic cooperation.
Second, amid growing global concern about climate change, Korea highly commends the UAE's efforts towards oil independent industrialization projects, for example, "the zero-carbon Masdar City Project." And Korea will actively support human resources development required to materialize such efforts. Third, Korea will seek a vibrant cultural exchange with the UAE. In this respect, we will implement cultural exchange programs where the government, business, media, religion, academy are all involved. 
Lastly, Korea will pay more attention to the Islamic finance. Recently, there is a growing interest in the Islamic finance in Korea. If the Islamic finance bill is passed in the National Assembly, the financial exchange is likely to increase significantly between our two countries. I will spare no efforts to make these plans produce positive outcomes. I hope the UAE also provide active cooperation and support. Building upon the friendship that, more than one thousand years ago, our ancestors established, crossing the Silk Road, now we are forging a new form of partnership.
I hope Korea and the Arab Emirates continue to march hand in hand towards co-prosperity in the 21st century.
Based on wisdom and courage of dream-making, I expect that we will continue to show our commitments to economic cooperation in addressing a number of challenges ahead.
